Shwag, Tchotchkes, Cool MM Stuff – Shweet

by Stephanie Rewis on July 30, 2005

Another baton — good thing it's the weekend and my one day off.

I have to say though, reading Kim's list and a couple of his comments, there's some cool stuff floating around out there. And I don't have it. I don't have hats or lap blankets and I've never seen a kite. Wow! Maybe there's still time before the proposed merger. ;~) I have to agree with JD though, I'm liable to go obsessive-compulsive on this since it's so hard to remember, but here goes anyway…

Total Macromedia Shwag in your possession:

7 t-shirts (I love my "goto and play" and </hassle> shirts)
1 long sleeved dress shirt
1 Dreamweaver backpack
1 Macromedia backpack
1 MM zippered shoulder bag
2 CD car visors
1 CD case
1 Flash drive (64MB)
3 Notebooks (one of my favorite items)
3 Pens
1 heavy folder/notebook pen holder
MM branded Power bars
MM branded Energy water
MM branded coffee candy
1 Macromedia Hot Sauce
1 large plastic water container
1 tall thermal coffee mug
1 glow/flash MAX mardi gras beads
1 brightly-colored button for each product (nabbed at MAX — they SO remind me of the 80's)
(And yes, I keep popping in and adding… told you I'd get all obsessive compulsive about it. ;~))

Oldest Macromedia shwag in your possession:

Not sure. Might be my </hassle> t-shirt (a fun one).

Last Macromedia shwag you received:

It was a group of things. A Macromedia backpack filled with the coffee mug, water container, flash drive, CD holder and travel-sized notebook/pen set.

Most Unusual Shwag:

Not sure I have anything too unusual. I suppose the Energy water, Power bars and coffee candy was rather unusual. Of course, they're no longer "in my possession" since I consumed them immediately.

Shwag you wear/use most often:

I love my Dreamweaver backpack and when I leave the house/office, I carry it. But in the office, it would have to be my Flash drive (so easy to transfer files between computers) and notebooks.

5 Favorite Macromedia shwag items:

Undoubtedly, the winner is my Dreamweaver backpack. It's rather like a messenger bag and has lots of compartments. It's more stout than my regular MM branded one (so I let my husband borrow that one after his got stolen at a conference).

The next would be my new Flash drive. I had never broken down and bought one — it's quite handy.

Then, though one of the less expensive items, I love my Macromedia MX notebook. Not just for the cool cover. :~) The paper inside is so stout and smooth. I hate that it's almost empty (more notebooks MM?)

I also find my CD car visor to be a handy dandy item. As long as I can keep a couple of my CD's in there and it doesn't get filled with my teenagers music.

Of course, I can't leave out my thermal coffee mug — I almost ALWAYS need coffee when I leave the house. (And Jim, I have to say I use it as often as my CMX partner one — only because the MM one holds more.) And the water container makes a perfect addition to my beach bag which got quite a workout the past couple weeks with my friend Ginger here. Of course we didn't always fill it with water. ;~)

What I wish I had? Shirts that were baby doll Tee's or tank tops. A Macromedia-branded iPod — now that would rock!

5 people I'm passing the baton to:

It would be good to take this outside the realm of the CMX partners I think. Hmmm… Who's got cool shwag (besides Macromedia employees) — How about:

Robert Hoekman

Adam Bell

Chris Georgenes

Linda Rathgeber

Jesse Rodgers

C'mon people — show us whatcha got!

“… my one day off… liable to go obsessive-compulsive….”

uh-huh, uh-huh…. ;-)

I like reading this stuff… I wonder about the best way I can point other staffers to follow this network of conversation, ’cause I think they’d enjoy reading it too.

For unusual & useful, I’m thinking of two credit-card-sized giveaways… one was a thin plastic case of TicTacs & toothpicks, the other was a mini-toolkit with blade, scissors, pen etc. There’s a lot of stuff I haven’t seen, though.

OK, my turn on the MM Schwag fest. First off I want to know how Steph got a Flash drive? I’m the ‘Flash’ user of the bunch. Then again, shouldn’t there by MM branded ‘Fireworks’ sparklers?

Total Macromedia Shwag in your possession:

Oh God, we could be here forever.

Way too many T-Shirts starting in 1999 when I got my first MM shirt when I convinced MM to present at the local Mac group while they were in New Orleans for CNet Builder.com (remember that?) Shirts include Long Sleeve and Short, no tanks, a couple of MAX shirts (including the Mardi Gras bead shirt Steph lost at the MAX party…..don’t make that mistake this year!) a shockwave.com shirt (that counts, right?) and a GotoAndPlay shirt.

A bunch of those CD-Car Visor holders

A cool red travel mug

A Devnet Nerf Basketball set (it’s really a prize for my MMUG but I hate to give it up.

A red Flash travel bag. Super cool.

Sunglass holders…..but no sunglasses!

Keychains, of course.

A couple of caps both MM branded and Studio branded

Notepads and Notebooks from the last MAX.

A couple of different types of binded notebooks (love the one with the pen/pencil holder).

A Leatherman micra swiss army knife set.

A 3D holographic postcard promoting the MAX in Orlando (didn’t attend but still got the card).

The John Dowdell bobblehead (OK, not really…..but wouldn’t it be cool?)

And probably a bunch of stuff I can’t recall at this time.

Oldest Macromedia shwag in your possession:

Probably my T in ’99

Last Macromedia shwag you received:

Got to be the stuff from the ColdFusion B-Day party. The CF poster, hard candy and weird wrap/twist keychains.

Most Unusual Shwag:

The MAX Mardi Gras Bead T-Shirt.

Shwag you wear/use most often:

Hmmmm…..that’s a toughie. Got to be the either the Mardi Gras Bead Shirt or one of the older long sleeve T’s.

5 Favorite Macromedia shwag items:

OK, no surprise. The Bead Shirt, followed by the Travel Mug, Shockwave.com T, Travel Bag and that Dowdell bobblehead! (Yes, I’m dreaming but that Stephanie Sullivan one wasn’t available cause Hoekman took the last one!)

Hahaha! Yes Adam… you just rememinded me of one thing I DON’T have (whoever nabbed my TMM Mardi Gras shirt at the party needs to cough it up!)… and another I forgot to put in my list — my little clear flashing MAX mardi gras beads. Definitely my favorite from the trip. ;)

Stef. July 30, 2005 at 2:59 pm

JD — I considered adding a staffer or two into the baton so it would start circulating there too — but guessed that you guys would have so much stuff you couldn’t begin to list it. LOL

Adam Bell July 30, 2005 at 4:40 pm

Stupid me! How could I forget this one since I was responsible for making it happen in the first place…..

Macromedia Hot Sauce!

Which was my idea when MAX was here in New Orleans because my hot sauce clients (http://www.hotconcepts.com/ and http://www.hotsaucezone.com/) are big MM users and it was only a natural fit to get a MM branded hot sauce out of them. It was something they wanted to do for a long time. Reason I forgot it is because I never opened it up (and won’t) because I get hot sauces from them all the time. I even designed a label for them when they did a Y2K sauce back in ’99.

Stef. July 30, 2005 at 9:29 pm

Haha Adam… you reminded me of a couple other things… as did Robert’s list… now I keep adding to my list. LOL

Robert Hoekman, Jr. July 30, 2005 at 9:34 pm

Adam – I assure that Steph’s head was only bobbling because of all the Bourbon street festivites.`

Cool Jesse… going to read now.

(And was NOT Robert… well, maybe a little… once. ;) )

Chris Georgenes August 5, 2005 at 1:18 am

oh man! I’d honestly say 3/4 of my wardrobe has a Macromedia product on it. Everything from baseball hats to cool jackets to scarfs, and T-shirts as far back as Flash 3 days. I have one of those MM Timbuk 2 bags, loads of pens, and various nick-nacky things – CD car visors, the works guys – they send me stuff all the time – even a few of those little TMM pins. :)
